We had our first self funded Alumni get together on Saturday 20th April 2024 to celebrate our registration as a Trust and the second self funded get together on Saturday 19th April 2025 to celebrate other milestones achieved so far.

Seminars

He with She

On 29th November 2024, a half day seminar was organised for college students and alumni, on topic ‘He with She’ to promote awareness and educate on gender violence and discrimination, which was conducted by renown speaker Mr. Harish Sadani, Masters in Social Work from the Tata Institute, Co-founder and Chief Functionary of MAVA, Men Against Violence and Abuse, a Consultant and Trainer to Corporates, Universities, Colleges, NGOs on the prevention of sexual harassment at workplace and other gender matters.

On 23rd January, 2025 a half day seminar was organised for students and alumni,  on topic ‘LinkedIn’ by Mr. Kailash Gajara, Founder & CEO Megastores.com and Atulsia Technologies, MS in Computer Science, USC, Los Angeles.

 

Seminar on Khadi

A Seminar on Khadi was held on 20th September 2025. The event was organised in collaboration with Anveshanam Foundation and Textile Value Chain, and has been curated by Dr. Ela Dedhia, Founder Director, Anveshanam Foundation.
The organisers ware honoured to welcome Smt. Roop Rashi Mahapatra, Additional Secretary to the Government of India, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME, as the Chief Guest.
The programme featured six distinguished speakers, from leading research and academic institutions who have conducted significant studies on khadi. An artisan from Kutch, working with khadi fabrics and kala cotton-based products also shared insights.
In addition, artisan stalls showcased handmade khadi products, while a live spinning and weaving demonstration were conducted by Smt. Ushaji (80+) and her colleague Smt. Rajshreeji, who have dedicated their lives to this craft.
The research papers and seminar report will be published by Textile Value Chain who will also cover other documentation including photography and videography.

Ted N Talks

On 16th July 2024, two TedN Talks (‘Talk the Walk’) were organised wherein Alumnus Krupa Shah BSc- Textiles & Fashion Technology, 1988, P G Dip. Computer Aided Textile Design, a computerized multi head embroidery designer and consultant, who established brands ‘Esves World Wide’, Brand of Work Wear, Brand ‘Lila’, making bags from industrial surplus and created unique variety of Hand Bags which are trendy and featherlight; and Alumnus Shreedevi Poduval BSc, 1991, MSc, Human Development, 1993, ‘ShreesQuiltScape’, a home-based business dedicated to creating quilts and quilted product. Empowering women to become economically independent through sewing and quilting, presented their journey to college students and alumni. 

On 28th September 2024, three TedN Talks were organised for college students as well as alumni by Alumnus Madhavi Trivedi BSc, 1983, MSc, 1985, FND, Senior Associate, Director - Nutrition and Scientific Affairs at Kellanova AMEA); Alumnus Aasha Savla Dip. in H.Sc, 1977, Dip. in Secretarial Practice, 1988, Founder – Shobhann by Aasha, Empowering rural women embroidery of Kasuti Embroidery in Dharwad and Alumnus Dhvani Shah, BSc, 2008, FND, PG Dietetics, 2009, RD Registered Dietetian, ND, Naturopathic Doctor, R.A.P, Registered Acupuncture Practitioner, C.D.E Certified Diabetes Educator, Celebrity Nutritionist, practitioner of the “FIMS theory”. All three shared their complete professional journey, including challenges, achievements, life lessons and industry trends etc.

Thrift Sale

A Thrift Sale was organised on 4th and 5th March, 2025. Thrifting helps divert goods from reaching the landfills, gives items a second life, helps consumers to save 70% to 90% cost on gently used items, promotes reuse and recycling of products and reduces waste thus contributing to human and environment sustainability. The proceeds of the sale will be used for disbursing interest free loans to current students towards their tuition and allied fees.

Industry Visit

An Industry Visit was organised to Raymond Manufacturing Plant, one of finest textile plant - the journey of wool from sheep’s back to man’s back - crafting the world’s finest fabric of wool from Fibre to Apparel, located in Vapi on Saturday 22nd March, 2025, which gave opportunities to students and faculty from various institutions to get exposure to functioning of industry.
